XU Ming is Appointed as the Distinguished Professor of HENU “Outstanding Talent Special Zone Support Program”


On October 25th, HENU held an appointment ceremony in the administrative building of HENU Jinming campus, appointing XU Ming as the distinguished professor of HENU “Outstanding Talent Special Zone Support Program”. HENU President SONG Chunpeng signed the appointment agreement with XU Ming on behalf of HENU, and issued the letter of appointment.

SONG Chunpeng warmly welcomed XU Ming for his returning to his hometown and joining HENU. SONG Chunpeng said, we should give full play to the role of high-level talents, combining with local characteristics, establishing distinctive disciplines, serving for regional economic development and personnel training.

XU Ming, born in 1964, received a Ph.D. in Ecology from University of California at Berkeley in 2000. He is currently the deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Ecosystem Network Observation and Simulation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the director of Beijing Office in Asia Region of the Global Carbon Project. He has published hundreds of SCI papers, of which a first author paper that published in the Global Change Biology (impact factor of 8.444, ranking fourth in the field of Environmental Science) was selected in the 25 highest cited papers over the past 20 years. The method of stem respiration measurement that he invented has now been widely used in Europe, America and Asia.
