Henan Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Materials was established in 2008, and its predecessor is Optoelectronic Technology Laboratory founded in 1987. For more than two decades, the laboratory has been committed to application of the optoelectronic materials and optical properties, which has laid a solid foundation of the talent and equipment for the technological innovation of photovoltaic materials. At present, there are 26 researchers in the laboratory, which has formed a professor-lead research team with high academic attainments, strong capability of innovation and spirit of collaboration; possesses a Condensed Matter Physics doctoral program and a post-doctoral station, and two master's programs in Physics and Electronics Technology. Covered 1400 square meters, the laboratory consists of several sub-research units that are in charge of different tasks, such as materials preparation, structural characterization, optical and optoelectronic performance analysis, battery assembly and performance testing. With these units the laboratory is able to complete the whole process of production from materials preparation to characterization. The researches in the laboratory focus on: Performance evaluation of polysilicon materials and the research of amorphous/microcrystalline silicon materials; compound-semiconductor solar cells; the application conditions and product research of new concept solar cells. In line with the international development of photovoltaic materials and devices, and the actual situation in China, we should base on domestic and face the world, and strive to build the laboratory into a base of technological innovation and a center of talent producing for the solar cells material research and production.
