Henan Provincial Research Center of Engineering and Technology for Nanomaterials is an exclusive professional institution engaged in the development and application as well as industrialization of nano-materials in Henan Province. The Center consists of three sections: central lab, analysis and test center, and pilot-scale experimental base. It possesses 13600 square meters of specially designed labs, 33350 square meters of pilot-test base, a series of professional labs and large-scale facilities for preparation of materials, chemical synthesis, structural characterization, and performance evaluation. The costs of analytical instruments and pilot-test facilities of the Center amount to over 40 million and over 20 million RMB.
Relying on the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education for Special Functional Materials (located in Kaifeng, Henan University), the Center is one of the pioneers engaged in the study of nano-materials in China. It has devoted itself to the study of preparation, performance, and application of dispersible nanoparticles for many years. Making use of in-situ surface-modification technology, the technical processes applicable to the preparation of tens of nanoparticls have been successfully established in the Center, and the performance of various surface-capped nanoparticles in engineering applications has been extensively explored. Having been financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Ministry of Science and Technology of China, in the name of various regular projects, "863" high-tech projects, and "973" projects for major fundamental study, the Center together with the Key Lab has so far published over 300 academic papers and claimed more than 30 approved national invention patents. Particularly, a series of products developed by the Center, including dispersible nano silica, oil-soluble nano copper alloy, and nano polysilicon inject-augmentation and depression agents applicable to low-permeation oil field, have been put into use in industry.
Tens of experts and scholars including 1 member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 12 professors, and 8 associate professors engaged in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, and Tribology, accompanied by more than 200 postgraduates and Ph.D. candidates are currently working and/or studying at the Center. The Center has been doing excellent work in the fundamental research of nano-materials and established strong ground for the application and industrialization of nano-materials as well.
